School Social Action
School social action encompasses a series of initiatives developed in the school environment with the aim of promoting inclusion, equal opportunities and the well-being of students
School social action is a set of measures designed to ensure that all students have the same opportunities to access education and succeed in school, regardless of their socio-economic status and/or special health needs.
Lisbon City Council awards various supports/subsidies to pre-school, primary and secondary school students in the public network, according to approved criteria.
This support is managed via the School Grouping/Non-School Grouping, through an application made by the person responsible for the child's education.
- Students in classes A and B of school social action: they belong to households in the 1st and 2nd income brackets, for the purposes of granting family allowance
- Students with special health needs (NSE), covered by measures to support learning and inclusion, Art. 20 and 21 of DL 54/20218 of July 6, amended by Law 116/2019 of September 13.
I - School Social Action
- School supplies (€20.00/year/pupil) and study visits (€20.00/year/pupil) for 1st cycle students in ASE and NSE classes A, B and NSE;
- Support Technologies (€24.00/year/student) for 1st cycle NSE students;
- Free school meals (breakfast, lunch and snack) for children/students in ASE and NSE classes A and B enrolled in the public pre-school, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic and secondary education;
- 50% reduction in the amount to be paid for school meals (lunch) for all children/students not included in ASE classes A and B, enrolled in the public pre-school network, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic and secondary education;
- Free distribution of school milk to pre-school children and elementary school pupils;
- School transport (NSE pupils and those attending an educational establishment more than 3 km away), extending the age limit to 20 years old inclusive for NSE pupils who have not completed compulsory schooling by the age of 18, given the difficulties inherent in their condition;

II - Educational Development Measures
- Wear and tear material (€25.00/year/child) granted to pre-school children in classes A, B of the ASE and NSE;
- Full reimbursement of the cost of textbooksupport sheets for students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education;
- Learning Support Center (€200.00/year) to be allocated for the purchase of general wear and tear material and/or didactic/pedagogical material for common/shared use.
- Learning Support Center (€250.00/year/student) for students with additional measures to purchase specific materials for individual use, when other materials are not pedagogically appropriate;
- Calculator machine, support for students in the 10th year of schooling to purchase equipment for use in national secondary school exams with a maximum value of €100/pupil (according to the Ministry of Education's list of calculating machines that can be used in the National Final Exams for Physics and Chemistry A, Mathematics A, Mathematics B and Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences);
- Other support for school transport (adapted school transport; home/school transport; free municipal transport for CML programs: School Passport; Swimming and Living Science School);

Parents/guardians should contact the school group their pupil attends to formalize their application, by the deadline set for this purpose.

The subsidy is transferred by Lisbon City Council to the school groups and non-grouped schools, which reimburse the support forms to the parents/guardians.
