Animal Protection

Animal Protection

Animal protection is a noble and essential cause to ensure the well-being of all the creatures that share our planet.

Law 8/2017 establishes the legal status of animals, recognizing their nature as living beings endowed with sensitivity.

Assistance and recovery

Promote rehabilitation with a view to reintegration into the natural environment

Generally adapted to life in an urban environment, wildlife here faces increased risks that can lead to the need for intervention and referral to a wildlife recovery center.

Weakened, sick, injured or illegally captive wild animals are received at the Wild Animal Recovery Center, where their rehabilitation is promoted with a view to their reintegration into the wild.

wild Animal Recovery Center

A specialized multidisciplinary team takes in weak, sick, injured or illegally captive animals and rehabilitates them with a view to reintegrating them into the wild. Given the wild nature of these animals, rehabilitation techniques and accommodation and feeding requirements are quite different from domestic animals.

After a clinical assessment, the animal is housed in an intensive care unit (a box of adequate size, which allows some movements to be restricted so that the clinical condition doesn't worsen), in an air-conditioned, enriched and, above all, peaceful environment.

A therapeutic plan and a nutritional plan appropriate to the species are put in place and after discharge, the animals are transferred to outdoor parks, where the recovery of physical condition, behavioral rehabilitation and the skills essential to survival in each species are promoted, such as: flight and hunting in birds of prey, curling up in a ball in the face of danger in the case of hedgehogs or climbing and jumping in the case of squirrels.

After a thorough overall assessment, the process culminates in the release of the animal into its natural habitat. The animals are released in their region of origin whenever feasible, in a favorable habitat to maximize their chances of survival and their full reintegration into the wild, resuming their role in the ecosystem.

Due to the need to ensure silence and isolation, indispensable components of the recovery process, visitors are not allowed.

The team provides information and updates on the condition of the animals via email, whenever requested.
