Lisbon Fire Brigade Regiment

The Professional Firefighters of the Local Administration depend directly on the municipal councils and are referred to as sapper firefighters. In Lisbon, the Regiment of Sapper Firefighters (RSB) is made up of full-time professional firefighters from the municipality's staff.

The Lisbon RSB guarantees the safety of people and property in the city of Lisbon, through rescue and prevention actions and collaborates in civil protection activities, within the scope of carrying out the specific duties assigned to it.

Music Band

The RSB Lisboa has a Music Band that has formally existed since 1925, created from the band of the Sociedade dos Calceteiros Municipais. Its origins are, however, older, going back to the eighties of the 19th century. The first few years were somewhat troubled and it was abolished, only to be revived again in the same decade. At the end of the 1930s, with the increase in the number of members and the quality of the performances, its validity and institutional need were recognized, in order to guarantee musical support for various ceremonies of protocol (of the RSB and the town hall), as well as guards of honour, concerts, parades and processions. Despite the limited availability of its members, who were involved in the rescue service, the institution was able to find solutions for the commitment of its members to this project.
