Promoting Inclusive Schools
A set of measures to facilitate the integration of children with special health needs into Lisbon's public schools, namely:
- allocation of financial aid (school supplies, wear and tear, study visits; assistive technologies, school meals, school transport);
- adapting spaces and equipping them with specific equipment with a view to improving the functional and mobility conditions of disabled children.
Students covered
Students with special health needs are covered under the terms of Decree-Law 54/2018, which establishes the principles and standards that guarantee inclusion, as a process that aims to respond to the diversity of needs and potential of each and every student, by increasing participation in learning processes and in the life of the educational community.
Support Technologies
Learning Support Centers (Primary Schools, Kindergartens and Secondary Schools)
- transfer of funds to school groupings/ungrouped schools for the purchase of equipment for common use;
- transfer of funds to school groupings/ungrouped schools for the purchase of specific materials for students covered by measures to support learning and inclusion (selective and additional).
Primary Schools and Kindergartens
- equipment and teaching materials essential to the specific needs of children;
- adapting spaces;
- adapting spaces to improve conditions of use and mobility for children.
In the city of Lisbon, there are reference schools for the education of blind and low-vision pupils - Agrupamento de Escolas Olaias and for the bilingual education of deaf pupils - Agrupamento de Escolas Quinta de Marrocos.
