Cleaning and Maintenance
Urban cleaning
Sweeping and washing public spaces
The cleaning agents have to deal with the various events that punctuate Lisbon life and always generate an influx of waste.
After a sporting or cultural event, a ceremony or a parade, the roads in question must be restored as quickly as possible, and municipal teams made up of vehicles and officials are responsible for this.
The teams also act, as soon as the open markets close, to collect the waste and then wash the premises.
In addition to sweeping (manual or mechanical), public spaces, including ditches, gutters and drains, are washed to remove animal droppings, waste from green spaces and dust from road traffic.
contact your local council for information on urban cleaning.

Frequent checks and maintenance
The water must flow optimally through the collectors. Periodic checks are carried out for this purpose.
The cleaning of the city's structural roads remains within the scope of intervention of the Lisbon City Council, which through the Urban Hygiene services, and at night, in order to minimize the impact on car traffic, carries out the weeding and cleaning of gutters and drains on these roads.
Pest control
The municipal services carry out actions - on a regular and scheduled basis, or in one-off interventions - to ensure pest control in the city.
the actions are organized in a weekly calendar and can be consulted in the Agenda of municipal activity
Interventions in the grove
The municipality may carry out urgent felling of trees that pose a risk to people and property, taking into account their state of phytosanitary conservation.
The rules governing the planning, implementation, management and maintenance of Lisbon's tree heritage are based on the Lisbon Municipal Tree Regulation.
