Mission: to intervene in disaster missions or serious accidents.
In the international context, the RSB is part of the national resources, in terms of (voluntary) provision of urban search and rescue for external interventions, under the criteria defined by the European Commission and within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, as part of the "Medium Urban Search and Rescue Module" (MUSAR).
The main objective of MUSAR is to locate and rescue victims found in rubble, and to provide health care in order to stabilize the victim until they can be taken to the hospital.
The elements of this module must be able to reach the crisis scene within 32 hours and operate fully self-sufficiently for 7 days.
Mission: To provide technical support for the formulation of policies and strategic and operational planning, to ensure directly or under its coordination the management of emergency medical activity and also to monitor and evaluate, in conjunction with other RSB services, the implementation of policies, planning instruments and the results of organizational and management systems in the area of Pre-Hospital Emergency.
Created in June 2012.
Mission: To control and develop actions to minimize the impact of accidents involving hazardous materials. The unit's operatives have specific training (Level II course) and work in the following areas: Recognition and intervention; Material; Decontamination; Protection.
Created in 1998.

- Special Multi-Risk Protection Vehicle (VPME 51) with 3 members

- Intervention suits with varying degrees of protection.
Mission: to operate in Lisbon, in the country or anywhere in the world.
Special body made up of the man/dog pairing, able to intervene in urban and rural areas.
Created in 2000.
Mission: Search and recovery of people, animals and various objects from the Tagus riverbed.
Mission: Immediate response (24h/24h); responds to identified social situations and needs, providing support to the most vulnerable population, namely through face-to-face assistance, screening, analysis and referral to the competent authorities, institutions or organizations.
