Municipal libraries
Lisbon's municipal libraries lend a variety of collections free of charge to the public for information, culture and entertainment. To make access to culture even easier, there are free activities every day.
The Municipal Library Network includes seventeen libraries throughout the city and one mobile library, which lends various collections free of charge to the public for information, culture and entertainment.
Books are a cultural tool that should be accessible to everyone. It is with this aim in mind that the municipality of Lisbon has developed its network of municipal libraries. In addition to the lending and assistance service, free activities are offered: meetings with artists, storytelling, music, workshops, exhibitions, shows and courses in various areas.
The Lisbon Library Network also promotes citizenship, diversity, inclusion, artistic sensitivity and the preservation of memory and heritage. They work closely with local communities, giving them an active role in the day-to-day life and activities of the libraries.
