Culture Access
A Theater in Every Neighborhood
Municipal project consisting of a network of medium-sized cultural and creative facilities.
With multiple functions, it responds to the growing demand for work and presentation spaces in the city, while also involving proximity work on a territorial and community basis. This dual function focuses directly on the two needs identified as most important for maintaining the city's cultural dynamics - the lack of spaces for artists and cultural organizations to conceive, work and present their creations, and the need to guarantee access to culture through outreach work in the different territories, with their respective populations.
This program envisages, among other things, the management model in partnership with collective cultural entities, in which the operation is ensured by them and the programming is the responsibility of the entities in conjunction with the municipality, a purpose for which the municipality may decide to support the adaptation and/or rehabilitation of these spaces, or participate in the costs associated with the programming upon analysis of the proposed project and budget.
To implement this objective, the municipality is issuing a call for proposals to collective cultural entities under the Um Teatro em Cada Bairro (A Theatre in Every Neighbourhood) program, in order to provide funding for projects that meet the objectives of this program, through a line of financial support for structures in the city that want to integrate existing or new cultural spaces into the Um Teatro em Cada Bairro (A Theatre in Every Neighbourhood) network.
