Science City

Science City

In Portugal, the Science and Technology Foundation has been promoting the hiring of national and foreign PhD researchers with a view to attracting the best talent.

Lisbon has proved to be an attractive city not only for tourists, students and entrepreneurs, but also a city with a strong presence of researchers and international reference institutions such as the Gulbenkian Institute of Science, the Institute of Molecular Medicine, the Ricardo Jorge Institute and the Champalimaud Foundation, among others.

In addition to public and private institutions exclusively dedicated to science, Lisbon also has one and a half hundred research centers integrated into the network of higher education institutions that are financially supported by the Science and Technology Foundation.

Lisbon City Council is developing a series of actions to strengthen Lisbon's position in promoting science.

Initiatives

The main objectives of the Biolab, which will open in January 2022, are to bring citizens closer to science and to explore the city's biotechnological potential.
