  • 1996-2001 – Degree in Biology – University of Lisbon School of Sciences.
  • 2005-2006 – Post-Graduation in Update in Science, Technology and Society - University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences. Attended the Specialisation Course in Environmental Science and Technologies – University of Lisbon School of Sciences.
  • 2003-2007 – Holder of a PhD scholarship – University of Lisbon School of Sciences.

Professional Experience

  • 2009 – Senior Technician at the Setúbal Region Intermunicipal Water Association (Associação Intermunicipal de Água da Região de Setúbal – AIA).
  • 2007-2008 – Technical Consultant in the areas of environment and town and country planning and management (Nemus Lda.).
  • 2003-2007 – Associate Member of the Plant Ecology and Biology Centre of the University of Lisbon School of Sciences (holder of a PhD scholarship).
  • 2001-2003 – Holder of a Scientific Research Scholarship at the University of Lisbon Botanical Museum, Laboratory and Garden.
  • 2000-2001 – Holder of a Scientific Research Scholarship at the NOVA University of Lisbon Institute for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Political Activity

  • Since 2009 – Member of the European Parliament.
  • Since 2013 – Municipal Councillor at the Lisbon City Council.
  • 1997-2005 – Member of the Ameixoeira Parish Assembly. Member of the Central Committee of PCP (Portuguese Communist Party), the Governing Body of the Lisbon Regional Organisation of PCP and the Governing Body of the Lisbon Intellectual Sector of PCP.
